Ruwertal

The
Ruwer Valley

The Ruwer Valley is a tributary of the Mosel. Here on the steep slate slopes incomparably light and mineral Riesling wines of great elegance and longevity are grown. Classic wines, famous around the world.

The first settlement of the Ruwer region dates back to 600 B.C. More than 2,000 years ago, the Romans were already cultivating wine in the Ruwer Valley.

The Ruwer is part of the Mosel wine-growing region, comprising the three rivers of Mosel, Saar and Ruwer. The Ruwer Valley is the smallest valley of the three and produces the lightest wines of the three valleys - with the highest minerality - thanks to the dark slate soil and the coolest wine growing climate.
